The X Habanos Day was celebrated with great success in Portugal on November 16, 2019. Organized by the Cuban Embassy in this country, once again took place in the elegant restaurant Espaço Montes Claros Lisbon Secret Spot in Monsanto, Lisbon. It was especially dedicated to remembering the most relevant moments of the previous events, to the Habanos cigars and the 500th. Anniversary of the foundation of the city of Havana.
The event received more than 200 people, among professionals and lovers of Habanos and opened its doors with the welcoming words of the Cuban Ambassador in Portugal, Excma. Mrs. Mercedes Martínez Valdés, followed by Mr. Pedro Ramos Rocha, General Director of Empor S.A., and with the presence of Mrs. Maritza Carrillo, Director of Comercial Iberoamericana S.A. and Mr. Oscar Ricote, Quality Director of Corporación Habanos, S.A. .
During Habanos Best Memories, the first activity of the afternoon, the participants were honored with the Regional Edition for Portugal in 2014, Juan López Chiado 1864 (Vintage), very much sought at that time. The session included an emotive journey of the most relevant moments of the previous editions of this Cuban party, conducted by Mr. Pedro Rocha. Mrs. Lígia Marques, Wine Educator for Sogrape Vinhos, presented Sandeman Tawny 10 years old, Sandeman Tawny 20 years old, Sandeman Tawny 30 wines years old, Sandeman Tawny 40 years old, in an extraordinary quality tasting program. The drinks were harmonized with the Paio do Cachaço, Paio do Lombo and Paiola de Porco Preto do Campo SEL products, presented by Salsicharia Estremonense S.A.
Habanos Alliance, an expected activity by the participants, presented Trinidad Vigía, a Habano selected for pairing with the whiskeys Benriach 10 years old, Glendronach 12 years old, Glenglassaugh Revival and Glenglassaugh Torfa. The products were presented by Mr. Pedro Rocha and Mr. André Alves, Brand Ambassador of Sogrape. During this session, Mr. Oscar Ricote presented an excellent conference about the different stages of production of the Habanos cigars which caused wide interest and the ovation of the grateful public.
Afternoon sessions were closed with the expected competition The longest ash. The contest´s protagonist was the surprising vitola Culebras of Partagás brand, singular Habano specially produced for La Casa del Habano shops, accompanied by the exquisite Cuban rum Havana Club Selección de Maestros, in a dynamic tasting conducted by Mr. Pedro Rocha. During the competition, participants were able to know the new products launched by Habanos, S.A. in the XXI Festival del Habano, presented by Mrs. Alejandra González, Marketing Director of EMPOR S.A.
During the Cocktail that precede the Gala Dinner, guests could taste the Limited Edition 2018 H.Upmann Propios along with Mojitos and Canchánchara offered by Havana Club, Quinta da Romeira Esp. Brut 2015, Gin N3 and Sandeman Tawny 20 years old.
During the Gala Night, guests were offered with the Habano Leyenda, the most elegant vitola of Montecristo Línea 1935. Drinks of renowned brands and the contagious rhythms of the Cuban traditional music, were accompanied with the excellent dinner in an evening that lasted until after midnight.
